FIRE Future Internet Research and Experimentation Expert Group
In February 2007, two complementary groups of experts, the Future Internet Research and Experimentation Scientific and Future Internet Research and Experimentation Industrial Preparatory Groups, have been set up by the Commission Services, Directorate General Information Society and Media, Unit F4
"New Infrastructure Paradigms and Experimental Facilities" to define a long term vision for Future Internet Research and Experimentation activities in Europe. The scientific group was constituted by visionary researchers from multiple disciplines, whereas the industrial Group included representatives from relevant technology platforms, as well as from other industrial stakeholders. The objective of the groups was to define a long term vision for European Future Internet Research and Experimentation activities and give recommendations for its implementation. In their second meeting in April 2007, the groups decided to publish a joint report.
